| Technico Farms (Western Canada) in association with Spudwyk, based in Outlook, Saskatchewan are collaborating with Technico for the production of high grade, early generation and affordable seed potatoes. Currently we grow over 700 acres of potatoes with a substantial proportion being seed. The balance is being used to produce commercial stock of “Little Potatoes” that is graded, packed and marketed by the Little Potato Company in Edmonton in what is an exciting and rapidly developing market.
This collaboration is expanding as progressively more and more TECHNITUBER® seed are produced and being supplied by Technico's New Brunswick based production operation. We are seeing the benefits of using TECHNITUBER® seed which enable a reduction in the number of years usually required to produce affordable seed. There's also a lower production risk due to the fewer field multiplications with less exposure to field disease challenges. We can certainly achieve a more rapid introduction of our new varieties for subsequent marketing as little potatoes.
