Royan Tolou - Iran

As we have been dealing with Technico Pty Limited's various international operations for the past three years, Royan Tolou Agritech Co. Wants to express our experiences in doing business with Technico during this period.

Our initial experience with Technico commenced in 2002 when they provided TECHNITUBER® seed for trial planting in two locations in Iran . One of their staff, Peter Waterhouse , made a trip to Iran to plant them here and provide agronomic and commercial support. The TECHNITUBER® seed performed well above our expectations. This successful outcome resulted in our company arranging the importation of about 1,000,000 TT's for 2003 planting, 500,000 TT's above what we had anticipated. The import in 2004 then doubled to 2,000,000 TT, well above the previously agreed numbers.

Though TECHNITUBER® seed has been planted and grown by a wide range of farmers in Iran, due to very high demands by the farmers over the last couple of years, the agronomy support provided by Technico has enabled our inexperienced farmers to grow and obtain exceptional yields. Average FG1 (Field Generation one) yields have doubled in just one year. This yield increase has come about from the detailed attention to the agronomic guidelines and their implementations by the highly professional Technico Agronomy team, which has now been training local agronomists for more than 12 months in Iran.

Technico also provided the opportunity to introduce ten new varieties into our substantial seed potato market and already the first year of field trials is allowing us to expect them to perform well under our winter plantings of South and Caspian regions (or in at least one of them).

The contribution by Technico to the Iranian potato industry has effectively been as a one stop shop for the seed production industry. It not only provides raw material (ie., TECHNITUBER® seed) for the production of locally produced basic seed, but also has provided support in many other areas of the potato seed industry. Such areas include commercial assistance, offshore training of Iranian staff, and market development. This package has been adapted to suit the local agronomic, commercial and cultural needs of Iran . The result of all of this is that both Technico and Royan have agreed to develop a joint venture company to produce TECHNITUBER® seed and derived basic seed locally.

Our company is very pleased to do business with Technico for many reasons.  Firstly, they have and can offer a new technology to places that they need them like oursleves.  Secondly, what they say is what they mean which is an essential part of any successful business. This helps customers/partners like us to be more confident about future and long term dealings with Technico.  In other words, we can rely on them for long term planning.  It is always easy to do one business with someone but is much more difficult to do more – over a longer term.  I believe Technico is willing to go through the difficulties to ensure the future is more than just one time business.  Aside from all of this Technico is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 30 days in a month, and 365 days in a year.  Someone from Technico always seems to be available to respond to any inquiry or request in a very timely manner.  Royan Tolou Agritech. Co. has been doing business with Technico for the last three years and based on our experience it has really been a pleasure to do business with Technico.
